Dillon,
Montana Tribune:
December
01,1883 The
“Bird’s Eye View of Glendale,” published by J.J. Stoner, of Madison,
Wis., and lithographed by Beck & Pauli, of Milwaukee has arrived.
It is a beauty. It is a daisy, and somewhat resembles a huge
tape worm.

Located in
Milwaukee, the Beck and Pauli Company was best known for the
printing of panoramic city views. Both German immigrants, Clemens J.
Pauli (1835-1896) and Adam Beck (1847- 1922). They were in
partnership for only nine years (1878-1887), but their output
remains historically significant. They arrived in Glendale in the
year, 1883 and carefully recorded the scenes in this extremely rare
and hard to find map. Many of the maps of the Beck & Pauli Co.
survived and were preserved in the Library of Congress archives but
only three are known to exist of Glendale and are all in private
hands.
