Note to Administrator: After further reviewing your site, I compared some of my old photographs and discovered I have copies of some you have posted (Glendale especially). If there is a place I could try to copy mine and e-mail/mail some I have various others and one from Lyons city. One photograph has the following miners names on the reverse of their photograph: 1) "Dommyano" 2) Nels Dieson 3) Big John Lawstrom 4) Frank Lawstrom 5)"Fontini" 6) "Argone" 7) Pete Hansen. Thank you for the great site and information.

My grandfather left Norway in abt. 1888 and settled in the Meaderville/Butte area. He worked in the mines in both Meaderville and Butte. My grandmother arrived a couple years later with two of her sisters from Norway. She married my grandfather in 1892. They had 8 children (6 survived) and moved to Seattle in abt, 1922/1923. I have a few very old photographs of my grandfather with a few friends from the mines they worked in (in 1890's). Also, photographs of some of the ore wagons pulled by horses and one photo of the smelter there in Meaderville. Grandfather's name in Norway was "Braaten" but changed upon arrival in America. Both he and my grandmother were from the Oslo area.

That is the most beautiful picture ever! Nice Job! Where can I get a higher resolution copy?

Admin reply: Some of the pictures on the site belong to the Museum and can be purchased for $5.00 + postage. Many are from the private collection of our very talented web master. I imagine you are referring to the beautiful picture of the Beaverhead Pioneers gathered above the Beaverhead Rock. This was created by the web master. You could inquire through his web site: www.glendalemontana.com which has a spot at the bottom of the home page for eMail.

I found your site while researching my family who lived in the areas of Glen, Montana. I will be in touch with some research requests. Do you charge for research and if so, how much? Paul

Admin reply: Our research assistants are members of the Beaver Head Hunters Genealogical Society and you can email them, attention Pat Darling, beaverheadhunters@gmail.com. The rates are very reasonable and, if you let Pat know what you are looking for, she can tell you if it is available and what the charge would be.

A million thanks to Maralyn, for visiting with us last week in the museum. We stopped by to show the kids the WWII exhibit and the Purple Heart, earned by Beaverhead County's Frank Buyan after his death in a POW camp in the Philippines. We ended up visiting with Maralyn, a native of our town, Littleton. She has just as much to share about our town as she does about Dillon! What a treasure! Maralyn, if you would send me an email regarding your house in Littleton, I need to know the corner it is on, and which house, as it seems the numbers have changed. See you all next time.

Thank you for your web site! I am a 'Gelhaus' decendent. Annie Sophia Gelhaus (John J.'s sister) was my Great Grandmother. I am hoping to get a copy of the History Book if possible. Sure wish I was closer to actually go look around the area. Thank you for making photos and info available to those of us who cannot get there.
Aloha!

Admin reply: The History of Beaverhead County Vol 1 & Vol 2 are available as a pair for $75 plus shipping. They can also be purchased separately. Please contact the Museum Store directly at beaverheadcountymuseum@gmail.com. Thanks you for your interest.
